A Portrait of the Artist as a Baby

What can I say? Mr. A. from L.A. is a natural! Expect a blog and web site soon from this young master! (And Yes, he is wearing a shirt with a turntable on it. East side hipster kids are the worst!)

Sneak Preview

Coming very soon, my latest print! Currently untitled, it will be a "mini" print (total size will be 8" x 8"), $20.00 plus shipping, and limited to an edition of 100. I'm hoping to have these back from the printer in early October, so check back regularly for updated!

New Work

I've been hard at work in the studio recently. Here's a few detail shots of a piece that I'm tentatively calling "tete-a-tete two." More work will be added soon, including a new "birdsong" series.

Happy Valentine's Day

I know it's a little early, but here's a shot of the Valentine's day card that I hand made for my lovely wife.

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by the site recently. Thanks to everyone for the nice notes and interest about my work. Thanks to everyone who has bought a painting or print. Big Thanks to Ree for sending everyone to my site! I appreciate all of your support. More new work is being produced and will be up for sale soon, so check back often.

Welcome to my site!

If this is your first time here, welcome to losergoes1st! You can read all about me, check out my artwork (there's a link to the right), or just take a look around at what I've been up to lately. My wife and I recently became first time parents so my work production has decreased a bit lately, but I'm still in the studio making art. You can contact me directly to purchase work or to inquire about commissions. I also have my last two prints and a few original paintings up on etsy. Thanks for dropping in and I hope that you enjoy the work.

E is for...

E is for Elliot, the second cutest baby born this year. His parents are my dear friends, Matt and Betsy. His aunt is this chick. I was thinking of Elliot when I created the letter E page for the alphabet book (note: this piece is actually not quite finished, but it's close enough). Matt and I share an unhealthy obsession with the Eames Lounge Chair, so it was an obvious item to include in the picture. I guarantee the day I get the Lounge Chair my ass will be glued to it for a week straight! What will happen to our children if they grow up and don't appreciate mid-century modern furniture? I shudder to think of such a thought. Hopefully the little guy will like this piece of art inspired by him (you'll get it for your nursery soon, Elliot, I only have 21 more letters to go!)

S is for...

Detail for the letter S in my alphabet book. Don't ask why I skipped from the letter C to the letter S, this started out as a sketch of some kicks and will probably end up in the alphabet book.

The Letters B and C

Here's a few details from the letters B and C from the alphabet book that I'm trying to get together for my son. Slow going, but I'm doing what I can whenever I can.

Solid Gold Hubcaps Cloth

My friend, Jeff, recently released a super fresh line of t-shirts under the name Solid Gold Hubcaps. The t-shirt designs are dope as hell. They're simple and clean, just like they should be. Check em out for yourself and buy a few so that you can look as cool as I think that I do.

Loverlee album cover

My one and only album cover design. My friend, Justin, asked me to do this for his band, Loverlee. You can check them out on myspace and itunes.

A is for...

Finished the first letter of my alphabet art for my son's alphabet book. At this rate my son will be in college by the time I'm finished with all of the artwork! So in order to speed up the process I've decided that I will need to make them in a different manner (i.e. not on canvas). So I'll be working out the details and getting started on the letter B this week. As usual, I'll keep you updated.
